UAE targets 80% landfill diversion as Naseej textile drive begins

The UAE is targeting 80 per cent waste diversion from landfill by 2031 as a new textile recycling drive, Naseej, gets under way.
Officials say the country generates around 220,000 tonnes of textile waste annually, and the wider strategy will see 11 landfill sites closed within three years.
